When I went to celebrate the Chinese New Year I opened the best fortune:
“It is a happy talent to know how to play.” What a great philosophy! I
keep this posted by my computer to remind me about the importance of
play. Kite flying is certainly play and I hope you make time for kiting this
spring.
The March 11 earthquake and tsunami devastated much of Japan. As the
president of the American Kitefliers Assoc. noted, “we all share the same

A Very Special Date: National Kite Month runs from March 26 to May 1,
2011 There is a great deal of kite information on
www.NationalKiteMonth.org. Not just ideas to celebrate the month, but also
lots of educational content. The goal is for hundreds of worldwide kiting
events. Also, check www.aka.kites.org for many other kiting events during
the next few months.
Celebrate Earth Day on April 22 by flying a kite. This day was set aside 31
years ago to show appreciation for earth’s natural environment. Can’t think
of a better activity to commemorate the day!
