"Growing up in the Northeast meant that spring was a very special time. No more sledding, slush, and making angels in the snow. The slightest whiff of spring brought our kites and us outside flying! What a great time - we beat the crocuses as a sign of the new season!"

About Kites...on a Roll®

What are Kites…on a Roll® kite making kits?

Kites…on a Roll® provides your group with the "it's spring!" experience, this inexpensive project fits into any weather pattern. These simple kites to make and fly create a great classroom project, camp activity, theme party, or a family fun adventure!

This creative, successful hands-on project is simple to make, easy to fly, and helps kids explore the world around them.

Not only are Kites…on a Roll® kite making kits wonderful for kids and adults, they're "uplifting" for another reason: each kit is put together in a sheltered workshop. Assembly of most products is not very interesting, but watching my team convert the parts into a completed kit is very impressive. Just think of them the next time you make one of our kites, you'll feel really good about it!

Kites…on a Roll® offers three kite making kits:

Roll out this great activity…your kite makers will fly with joy!

Each package contains enough material for 20 kites:

  • A roll of 20 kite patterns imprinted on white plastic (We imprint the Sled and Malay Bird on writeable plastic, allowing the use of crayons as well as permanent markers.)
  • Pre-cut sticks
  • Flying line
  • Workshop packet
  • Instructions and kite safety tips imprinted on the plastic
  • A sample pattern so you can practice making a kite ahead of time

Just add imagination, tape, scissors, decorating stuff, and the wind!

Kites…on a Roll® is more than a sheet of plastic. It is history, science, and culture; it is arts and crafts, a moment of creativity and play; it is reading, following instructions, and immediate feedback; it is a memory, a room decoration, and a relationship with the wind.
