The Good Ole Summertime–perfect for kites, lemonade and fireflies

Summer, that time of the year for play! Come June, we think of camps, family reunions, fun in the water, family vacations or just do-nothing days! After a week of thinking, sleeping, day dreaming, we find we want to be busy. Here is a list of some activities that will encourage you to be creative and if possible be outdoors: Pay attention to # 5,10,15,20,25!

  1. Attend a free outdoor music concert in your community
  2. Go on a walking tour of your city
  3. Wash your car
  4. Play miniature golf
  5. MAKE A KITE
  6. Go on a hike
  7. Grab a book or your reader and lay in a hammock
  8. Go to a drive-in movie
  9. Blow bubbles
  10. DECORATE A KITE
  11. Run through the sprinkler
  12. Hold a contest spitting watermelon seeds
  13. Clean up an elderly neighbor’s or family member’s yard
  14. Plant a garden, take care of it and enjoy the fruits of your labor
  15. FLY A KITE
  16. Go berry picking
  17. Make a home video
  18. Capture and release fireflies
  19. Learn to skip stones across a body of water
  20. GO KITEFLYING WITH FRIENDS
  21. Visit a farmer’s market and learn about the sources of our food
  22. Make your own ice cream sundae
  23. Turn lemons into your own lemonade
  24. Ride a merry-go-round or a roller coaster
  25. MAKE ANOTHER KITE TO DECORATE AND FLY

Enjoy these lazy, hazy days. Make a journal of all you’ve done. When someone asks, “how was your summer, what did you do?’ you have a whole list of activities.
